Concrete Add-ons

Micro-Monofilament Fibers

This economy-grade fiber functions as a plastic shrinkage reinforcement intended to reduce the formation of shrinkage cracks prior to initial set and to reduce settlement shrinkage. It’s non-corrosive, chemically inert, and 100% acid and alkali proof.

Applications

This product is used in concrete applications such as slabs-on-ground, curbs, driveways, sidewalks, basement floors, garage floors, colored concrete, and small precast products—anywhere that the objective is to control plastic shrinkage cracking while improving basic durability properties. Requires no mix design or placement changes!

Performance Benefits

• Increase surface durability

• Reduce plastic and hardened concrete shrinkage

• Reduce settlement cracking

• Reduce settlement and bleeding

• Provide 3-dimensional reinforcement against micro-cracking

Recommended dosage

This product is typically used at a dosage rate of 1.0 lb/cu yd of concrete.

Micro-fibrillated Fibers

This product is an easy to finish micro synthetic fiber, made of 100% virgin homopolymer polypropylene in a collated fibrillated form. This medium-duty fiber offers good bonding power, long-term durability, and temperature/shrinkage control by incorporating a fibrillated pattern and long length option. It’s non-corrosive, non-magnetic, chemically inert, and 100% acid and alkali proof.

Reinforcement Objective

To inhibit plastic and settlement shrinkage cracking prior to the initial set, and to reduce hardened concrete shrinkage cracking, improve impact strength, and enhance concrete toughness and durability as an alternate temperature/shrinkage reinforcement.

Applications:

Normally used in quality concrete applications such as slabs- on-ground, overlays/toppings, curbs, sloped paving, driveways, sidewalks, basement floors, garage floors, architectural/colored concrete, precast, mortar, grout, water tanks, and sewage treatment facilities—anywhere that superior fiber performance is desired and where the objective is to control temperature/shrinkage cracking while improving basic durability properties. Requires no mix design or placement changes!

Performance Benefits

• Enhance durability

• Reduce plastic and hardened concrete shrinkage

• Reduce settlement cracking

• Provides nominal impact strength

• Increase post-cracking residual strength

• Increase concrete toughness

• Provide 3-dimensional reinforcement against micro-cracking

Recommended Dosage

This product is typically used at a dosage rate of 1.5 lb/cu yd (0.9 kg/cu m) of concrete.

Macro Fibers

This heavy-duty macro synthetic fiber offers maximum long-term durability, structural enhancements, and effective temperature/shrinkage crack control. It’s non-corrosive, non-magnetic, and 100% acid and alkali proof.

Reinforcement Objective

To inhibit plastic and settlement shrinkage cracking prior to the initial set, and to reduce hardened concrete shrinkage cracking, improve impact resistance, and enhance concrete toughness and durability as an alternate temperature/shrinkage reinforcement.

Applications

This product is mainly used in concrete applications such as slabs-on-ground, composite steel decks, overlays, pavements, bridge decks, shotcrete, and precast products—anywhere that steel reinforcement reduction or replacement is the objective. Contact MUDco Management for design assistance and dosage recommendations.

Performance Benefits

• Enhance durability

• Reduce plastic shrinkage cracking

• Reduce crack width opening

• Improve flexural toughness and fatigue resistance

• Increase impact and shear resistance

• Increase post-cracking residual strength

Reinforcement Dosage:

This product is typically used at a dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd of concrete, and higher, depending on application and desired performance. Contact MUDco Management for design assistance and dosage recommendations.

Color

Color Application Information:

  • Colors shown on the color chart approximate the color of broom-finished concrete flatwork made with a medium-gray cement. The colors on the chart are enhanced with sealer.
  • Concrete color is altered by many factors, including cement and aggregate color, slump, finishing practices, and curing method. Using the contemplated materials and construction techniques, representative samples should be cast for approval, especially when exact color matching is important.

CHROMIX® G and CHROMIX® L Admixtures for Color-Conditioned® Concrete

Both CHROMIX® G and CHROMIX® L Admixtures for Color-Conditioned® Concrete add color that is weather resistant, UV stable, lightfast, and alkali resistant. They contain no materials that initiate, accelerate, or promote the corrosion of steel, coated metal, plastic, or rubber concrete reinforcements. CHROMIX® G and CHROMIX® L Admixtures for Color-Conditioned® Concrete will not migrate from standing water, and can safely color concrete fountains, pools, water features, or concrete that will be polished and encounter damp or wet environments. All pigments used conform to the requirements of ASTM C 979 Pigments for Integrally Colored Concrete.
